Brothers,
Greetings from the East! As you are well aware, July begins with our 4th of July holiday with its parties and shopping deals. Vacation season begins in earnest and the heat really starts. The long-est day of the year is past us, but most will not have noticed.
But, in the above, I glossed over the fact that July 4th is Independence Day. It is the anniversary Master
of that day in 1776 when our Declaration of Independence was signed. That document begins: IN CONGRESS, JULY 4, 1776
The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America
When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
I challenge you to read the Declaration of Independence in full – for the first time, or once again. But remember that these events were only part of our story. There was much before and after. Read our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Study our Country’s history, it is an amazing story.

Slog-slog-slog, drip-drip-dripppp.
Welcome to summertime, my brothers. It has been quite a year already for our lodge building weathering issues with the gas appliances, air conditioning, and now a twice-clogged sewer line (the most recent was a total line collapse). Thank you to all who linked up to resolve these problems. We are now turning our attention to Grand Lodge and some proposed changes to the CODE, there are also some things to consider regarding our own bylaws. Please plan to join us in Senior lodge for these discussions to help shape our fraternity’s future.

We continue our Spring/Summer fundraiser with the availability of Autobell car wash vouchers. For $16.00, each voucher will give you the Full Service Wash which includes interior vacuum, exterior wash, dash/door panel/console wipe down, interior window cleaning and hand dry. You may choose to upgrade to any of their other services at the store location if you wish. Half of the cost of the voucher is retained by the Lodge and will be split between our Masonic charities. Please see me to purchase, or mail a check to the Lodge with “carwash” on the Memo line, and I’ll send you the voucher(s).
Also Brothers, please endeavor to drop a check in the mail for your 2017 dues if you have not yet done so. Before the next Trestleboard comes out, I will be preparing final delinquency notices for mailing.
