From the East
Greetings from the East!
Brothers I pray that you are well. During these challenging times we have been working to resume a semi-normal meeting and practice schedule. Also, large changes have been in the works.
Your lodge is at a crossroads. Soon the Joppa lodge building we have called home for more than 20 years will be sold. The association we have been part of with our bother lodge Eastgate will be dissolved.
In an effort to continue our lodge’s deep fraternal traditions, I have gathered a committee of your fellow brothers to investigate and make recommendations for a short term and long term home. Along with the committee I have solicited ideas and input from many members. Our current leanings are toward the York Rite facility, just down the road. We plan to start on a temporary basis and could possibly work into a permanent home there.
In our April stated communication we will be voting to amend our bylaws to allow us to change our meeting place. There also will be discussion about our future plans. This motion and (any others changing bylaws) must lay over for 1 month then be voted on. If this motion passes our stated meeting place will shift. The intention is to keep our regular second Tuesday for meetings.
If you have questions, I encourage you to attend our April stated communication on the 13th. If you are unable to join us in person please reach out to me or one of the current officers prior.
As always, I look forward to seeing you in the lodge.
Fraternally,
Chris Lueck
From the South
Greetings from the South!
As the 2021 Junior Warden, it is my responsibility to watch the time and supervise the lodge while at refreshment, but his pandemic has pretty much kept our lodge closed much of a full year. We now have degree work scheduled, but will not be providing a meal.
The Master has scheduled an Entered Apprentice degree for four candidates on April 24th. Please come our to our Stated Communication on April 13 and volunteer to assist in some way on the 24th, in initiating these gentlemen and helping them to begin their journey in Masonry. We also need some assistance with greeting visitors as they enter the lodge
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Paul Parker
From the Secretary
Brothers,
As we enter spring time, I do want to note that we have 25 members who have not yet made a payment for their 2021 dues. This is more than 10% of our membership. Please take a look at the dues card that you may be carrying, to insure that it is for the year 2021. Should you have a question about whether or not your payment has been received, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
Our current fundraiser is through AutoBell gift cards. Of the $20 we receive, half of that is donated to our Masonic charities. I’m guessing your automobile, like mine, has a yellow sheen these days. Whether you are a regular customer of AutoBell, or simply have one nearby, please consider this giving opportunity. Or perhaps you have family elsewhere who you might consider gifting one of these. If you wish to participate, simply drop a check in the mail to the PO Box listed (noting carwash on the memo line), and I will get a card back to you with no delay. If you are accustomed to making dues payments electronically through OLP, that is also a payment option for this cause.
