Masonic Lodge Charlotte NC – March 2023

From the East

Brethren,

Attendance at our Thursday practices has picked up in recent weeks. This is great! Currently, we are working on the Fellow Craft Degree, including the Staircase Lecture, G Lecture and Charge. If you haven’t been coming out for practice, please consider attending. We are blessed with two Directors of the Work, Glenn Sigmon and Clayton Wright, who are Certified Lecturers. I can’t think of a better way to learn more about Masonry and helping your Lodge than by coming to practice.

At last month’s stated communication, I gave a talk on the Masonic origins of the Order of the Arrow in the Boy Scouts. I am very interested in how Masons have influenced and continue to influence other organizations thereby imparting Masonic principles, such as brotherhood and charity, throughout society. I am working on a second Masonic Education talk on the Masonic influence in the founding of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. For example, you may be surprised to learn that Elks wore aprons in the early days of their Order. Stay tuned.

Fraternally,

John Hulla – Worshipful Master, PM

From the West

Brothers,

Spring is here and it has hit me like a brick! I was supposed to be in the East for our last Entered Apprentice degree conferral, but just a few hours beforehand there was a medical emergency with my elderly mother. Thanks to WB Glen Sigmon for filling in at the last minute! Some lodges in a similar situation might have been forced to cancel the degree, but here at Phalanx we are blessed with such learned brothers that we can roll with the punches without batting an eye.

Fast-forward a month and my life is crazy. Long story short, my mother is now in a nursing home and I am not only packing up her 95 years of stuff from her home, but I am also packing-up my life as well as I am moving early this month (don’t worry. I’m not going far). On top of all that I am now having a very busy time at work. I have a lot of balls in the air.

All of this has caused me to be lacking in my goals of organizing social events for the Lodge. Not to worry, once I get past the next few crazy weeks, I will be back with a lot of ideas for fun things we can do as friends and brothers. I appreciate your patience.

Fraternally,

SW, PM

From the Secretary

Brothers,

Just a couple of things:
Please review the member information sheets that I sent out last month, and let me know if there are any changes, additions or deletions necessary.

As of February 28, we’ve dropped below 50 members not having sent their 2023 dues. With 255 Master Masons, that’s still almost 20% of our members who are delinquent.
Please take note.

Fraternally,

Mike Hamrick, PM

Secretary
