Masonic Lodge Charlotte NC – March 2017

From the East

Worshipful Master Masonic Lodge Charlotte NC

Brothers,

By the time you are reading this, the Scottish Rite Temple will likely be being demolished.

Several of our Brothers were able to salvage some of the decorative building materials from the Blue Lodge in that building, which we are looking at using as we refurbish our lodge room. We were also able to purchase some items for our kitchen. Thanks to WB John Harder, WB Mike Hamrick, WB John Caudle, WB Glenn Sigmon, Brother Jeffrey Ordonio and Brother Chris Lueck for their work on this.

Coming up on March 21st and 22nd, is the Spring School of Instruction. The focus will be on the Fellowcraft Degree and we should be in great shape to perform any part that we are called upon to exemplify – having just passed Brothers Voelker and Jones on March 7th.

At our February Stated, we made available a new Lodge Roster. This is the first update of the roster since 2010 and was long overdue.

These are available from the Secretary for $5.00.

Brother Chris Lueck has attended the first session of Wilkerson College and will be giving us an update on his experiences. Having attended myself as Senior Deacon, I believe that it is a valuable experience and look forward to hearing from him. The first session was held on March 3rd and 4th at the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford.

As usual, we have practice on Tuesdays and will be preparing for the conferral of the Master Mason degree. If you haven’t joined us for practice before, you are always welcome. We have a great time and wonderful fellowship.

I look forward to seeing you in Lodge.

Fraternally,

– Master

My Brothers,

We are staring into an early spring and while trees, shrubs and grasses put on their best, we should see some changes soon to our lodge building as we prepare for upgrades that will help transform it into an event venue while making it more comfortable for us. Meantime, thank you to WM Bill Stout, WB Mike Hamrick, Brother Chris Lueck and Brother Jeffrey Ordonio for doing yeoman’s work saving the blue lodge doors and moldings from the Scottish Rite building for transplant into our lodge room. (What a labor of love this has been). We will have a plan update for you at our stated meeting on the 14th. Our candidates are advancing toward their Master Mason degree in fine form. Please keep an eye toward the calendar and plan to join us for future degrees.

Brothers,

March already brothers! It is hard to believe that we are already almost a quarter of the way through the year and the trees are budding. We have already had a busy year and it will continue to get busier as we move forward. I would like to take this opportunity to publicly express my appreciation to all of the brothers that helped move our belongings over from Scottish Rite last month. While I unfortunately couldn’t participate, this same group also helped clean and straighten the lodge, office and storage area. These tasks can be monumental, but also reveal some terrific parts of our history. The master pulled me aside before the last meeting and showed me a log book for our lodge that dates back over 100 years. Finding history like that reminds us of our past and gently encourages us to stand a little taller and feel even prouder of this ancient society that we represent. I can’t thank those individuals enough for dedicating the time and effort to making that happen. There is still more work to do, and I am sure if any brothers reading this would like to help, we can figure out a way for you to participate. I look forward to seeing everyone next Tuesday in lodge.
